Cwmcrachen
The Council runs one dedicated Gypsy Traveller site at Cwmcrachen in Nantyglo. The site has 19 pitches available to rent. All pitches were fully upgraded during 2008 following a successful bid for the Welsh Government refurbishment grant. Each pitch has timber boundary fencing and a warden and a small room for use by residents and visitors to the site.
There is currently a waiting list for the site. Pitches do become available from time to time but there is often a significant wait. If you would like to apply for a pitch please contact the Housing Access Team on 01495 354600 (option1), or visit the Housing Access Team page.
Accommodation Assessment
The assessment of Gypsy and Traveller accommodation needs, and the duty to make provision for sites where the assessment identifies need, became statutory requirements under the Housing (Wales) Act 2014. The Gypsy and Traveller accommodation assessment for Blaenau Gwent has been scrutinised by Welsh Government and approved. The accommodation assessment has identified an estimated unmet need for 12 pitches for the duration of the Local Development Plan (2011-2021).
